CKCYSDA Raises Concern Over Stalled Madobi Yako Kiru Kwanar Dangora Road Project

The Coalition of Kiru Community, Youth and Students Development Association, CKCYSDA, wishes to raise an important community concern regarding the current condition and slow progress of the Madobi Yako Kiru Kwanar Dangora road project.

This is not a road belonging to only one community.

It connects and affects people across Kiru, Yako, Kafin Maiyaki, Kwanar Dangora and other communities along the route.

For that reason, CKCYSDA believes the discussion about this project should bring our communities together rather than create disagreement between them.

Whether someone lives in Kiru, Yako or around Kafin Maiyaki and Kwanar Dangora, a completed road benefits everyone.

Our Concern Is About the Entire Road Project

CKCYSDA wants to make it clear that our concern is not limited to only the Yako Kiru section.

We are concerned about the progress and completion of the entire Madobi Yako Kiru Kwanar Dangora road project.

Residents and road users have observed that significant portions of the work remain unfinished while visible construction activity has reduced or stopped in some areas.

In some sections, the previous road surface has already been removed in preparation for reconstruction.

Many residents describe this in Hausa as an bambare titin.

The expectation of the people was that once the old surface was removed, reconstruction would continue until a safe and completed road was provided.

Instead, people are now travelling through sections that remain rough, dusty and unfinished.

This Is a Shared Community Issue

CKCYSDA does not want this road project to become another source of misunderstanding between communities.

Kiru needs the road.

Yako needs the road.

Kafin Maiyaki and the Kwanar Dangora axis need the road.

Madobi communities also depend on the same route.

Farmers, traders, students, workers, transport operators, patients and families from different communities use this road.

Our message should therefore be simple.

The road belongs to all the communities it serves, and everyone should work together for its completion.

The Effect on Everyday Life

This project is not only about constructing a road.

Its condition affects people's daily lives.

Farmers need reliable roads to transport crops and livestock to markets.

Traders depend on good transportation links to move their goods.

Students and workers depend on the road every day.

Patients and families sometimes need to travel quickly to health facilities.

Commercial drivers and vehicle owners also face additional maintenance costs when they regularly travel through damaged and unfinished sections.

A completed road can improve business, agriculture, education, healthcare access and movement between communities.

The People Need Clear Information

CKCYSDA recognises that major road projects can face different challenges during construction.

There may be issues involving funding, weather, technical work, contractor mobilisation or other project requirements.

However, when construction slows down or stops for a long period, communities deserve clear information about what is happening.

People should not have to depend on rumours to understand the status of such an important public project.

Questions CKCYSDA Is Asking

CKCYSDA respectfully requests clarification from the Kano State Government and the relevant authorities responsible for the project.

  1. What is the current official status of the Madobi Yako Kiru Kwanar Dangora road project?
  2. What percentage of the entire project has been completed?
  3. Which sections have been completed and which sections remain outstanding?
  4. Why has visible construction activity reduced or stopped in some areas?
  5. Is the contractor currently fully mobilised to the project?
  6. Is there any funding or technical challenge affecting the progress of the work?
  7. When will full construction activity resume across the unfinished sections?
  8. What is the current expected completion date?
  9. What temporary measures will be provided for sections where the old road surface has already been removed?
  10. How will the relevant authorities ensure that the entire project is completed and not only selected sections?

We Are Calling for Completion of the Whole Route

CKCYSDA respectfully calls for attention to every affected community along the road.

Our position is not that one community should receive attention before another.

Our position is that the entire road project should be completed according to its approved scope.

Development should connect communities, not divide them.

If work resumes in Kiru, Yako should not be forgotten.

If work resumes in Yako, communities around Kafin Maiyaki and Kwanar Dangora should not be forgotten.

The objective should be the completion of the entire route for the benefit of everyone.

This Is Not a Political Attack

CKCYSDA is not raising this matter to attack any political party, elected official, government institution, contractor or individual.

Our responsibility is to speak respectfully about issues affecting the development and wellbeing of our communities.

We appreciate government projects and development efforts that benefit our people.

At the same time, we believe that communities have the right to ask questions when important public projects slow down or remain unfinished.

Our request is for transparency, communication and completion.

CKCYSDA Will Continue Monitoring the Project

CKCYSDA will continue to monitor the road project across the affected communities.

Our monitoring will not focus on only one town or one section.

We intend to document progress across Kiru, Yako, Kafin Maiyaki, Kwanar Dangora and other relevant sections of the route.

This may include photographs, videos, physical observations, publicly available records and official responses from the relevant authorities.

Our aim is to work with facts and provide the community with reliable information.

Our Appeal to the Kano State Government

CKCYSDA respectfully appeals to the Kano State Government and all relevant authorities to review the current condition of the road and ensure that construction continues across the unfinished sections.

Particular attention should be given to areas where the existing road has already been removed but permanent reconstruction has not yet been completed.

We also respectfully request regular communication with affected communities so residents can understand the progress, challenges and expected completion timetable.

A Message of Unity

To our people in Kiru, Yako, Kafin Maiyaki, Kwanar Dangora and every community connected by this road, this should be a shared development concern.

There is no benefit in arguing about which community owns the project or which section deserves more attention.

A completed road from one end to the other will benefit all of us.

Let us therefore speak with one voice and continue to seek development peacefully, respectfully and with evidence.

We appreciate development when it comes, and we respectfully ask questions when projects stop.

Complete the entire road for every community it serves.
